The Lakehead Search and Rescue Unit (LSRU) is a registered not-for-profit and educational organization, concerned with search, rescue and emergency response in Northern Ontario. LSRU was formed in 1962 and currently has approximately 30 qualified searchers (2016) ready to serve you and your community. Amongst our unit members there are 3 Master Trainers for AdventureSmart, 3 Ontario Train the Trainers, and 15 certified Project Lifesaver Electronic Search Specialists. We work hard training and practicing search, rescue and survival skills with the hope that in the event of an emergency, we can make a difference in saving lives.

Whether you are simply interested in what we do, curious about becoming a unit member, or interested in the children’s HAT (Hug-A-Tree) and Survive or Project Lifesaver programming please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
